Nativity

Nativity

I have sung "Silent Night" since I was a child. I love its melody and harmonies and I know the lyrics to all the verses. Yet for all the times I have sung or heard this song, I was recently moved by the phrase "the dawn of redeeming grace." Christ's birth was the dawn of redeeming grace. In this Nativity, I have used simplicity to explore and focus on the tenderness and wonder of that astonishing moment that literally divided time.

This 3-figure Nativity set is a limited edition sculpture cast in Hydrocal -- a very strong form of plaster. (Each figure is signed and numbered. I will be releasing additional figures to this Nativity each year.)

The sculpture has two configurations: The infant lies or sits in Mary's arms or sits upright with Joseph's hand supporting him. In the configuration in the above photo, the dimensions are:  5" x 8" x 4"

            Mary       4" x 5" x 3"

            Joseph    5" x 5" x 4"

            Infant     1.5" x 1" x 1"

This premiere 3-figure Nativity, being offered for $100, can be purchased at the Open Studio on December 3rd or ordered through PayPal.
